Umi is a Seattle born nineteen-year-old R &B singer song writer. Her real name is Tierra Wilson. While she is American, her mother is Japanese, and she also sings songs in Japanese. Now, most of her work is centered around social media where she released Happy Again in 2017, and her first EP Interlude in January of 2018.
Influenced by artists such as Frank Ocean, Umi’s simple and unadorned lyrics are nostalgically modern and a sure treat to your ears. After independently releasing a handful of singles, Umi, now, has gained over 300,000 followers on Youtube, and in addition to her June 2017 release Friendzone being played more than 450,000 times, she was elected to be included in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Best life of 2017.
